2012 Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L Monte Rosso Vineyard

Wine Notes Print tech sheet

Planted by famed winemaker Louis Martini in 1938, this exceptional vineyard block boasts the oldest producing Cabernet Sauvignon in North America. In 2012, a generous harvest from one of Monte Rosso Vineyard’s most celebrated micro-blocks created a one-time opportunity to bottle a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon from this coveted location. Known as Block E-50, this small pocket produces wine of incredible complexity, with a unique character that distinguishes it even from other Cabernet Sauvignon within Monte Rosso Vineyard. Knowing it would gain greater dimension with time, we bottled the E-50 Cabernet Sauvignon entirely in magnum format. The Monte Rosso Vineyard is famous for cellar-worthy wines, and after waiting patiently for several years, we decided the moment had arrived. Still, we expect it to continue aging gracefully for decades to come.
