2018 Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard

Wine Notes Print tech sheet

Pangloss Winemaker Erich Bradley believes Alder Springs Vineyard produces some of the finest Syrah ever made in California. Once we tasted the wine, it was hard to argue. This exquisite wine is spicy and rich, capturing the purity and structure of one of the most unique vineyards in California. The site is perched at 2,700 feet elevation, among the highest in California. Though isolated, Alder Springs Vineyard is a paradise for Rhône varieties like Syrah – the unique environment creates textured wines with layers of flavor. As is common in the Côte-Rôtie region of France’s Northern Rhône Valley where Syrah dominates, ours is co-fermented with Viognier. Co-fermenting with this decadent white wine actually makes the Syrah darker in color, and also adds floral aromas and a wonderful mouthfeel.
