2019 Cabernet Franc Moon Mountain District

Wine Notes Print tech sheet

The legendary wines of Burgundy, Bordeaux and the Rhône Valley provide inspiration for a wide variety of Pangloss wines. With this selection we explore our passion for another French province called Chinon. Located in the heart of the Loire Valley, Chinon has long been celebrated for the freshness and mouthwatering acidity of its Cabernet Franc. The wines of Moon Mountain District are often described in similar terms, and so our desire to replicate the success of our French counterpart in Sonoma was natural and powerful. Cabernet Franc is notoriously challenging to grow, which is why California plantings remain small. Fortunately, Moon Mountain District once again demonstrates its incredible versatility, providing ideal conditions for the variety to thrive. Pangloss has exclusive access to some of the largest Cabernet Franc plantings in the region, all of them farmed organically. As is tradition in Chinon, only neutral oak is used on this wine to better frame its lighter, sculpted style.

What Our Team Is Saying:

"Cut up as many onions as you can find, melt them down in a ton of butter and make yourself some French onion soup for this Cab Franc."
