2021 Optimist Society Cuvée Volume I
Wine Notes Print tech sheet
We're thrilled to introduce the inaugural release of our Optimist Society Cuvée, a wine crafted with our members in mind. This special cuvée represents the first in an ongoing series designed to showcase our most cherished varietal selections through unique, limited blends. "Volume I" draws inspiration from the great Super Tuscan tradition, marrying Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon from Moon Mountain District vineyards. With notes of dark, ripe plum and dusty earth, this style perfectly expresses the distinctive character of high-elevation Sonoma terroir – a wine of elegant structure and remarkable potential to evolve over time.
Suggestions
- Grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, wild boar ragu
- Aged Pecorino Toscano, Parmigiano-Reggiano, aged Gouda, Manchego
- Roasted portobello mushrooms, grilled eggplant with balsamic, roasted red peppers
- Creamy polenta, wild rice pilaf, farro with herbs, roasted fingerling potatoes with rosemary, rustic bread with olive tapenade
What our team is saying:
"There is an elegance of blending a beautiful Bordeaux with a robust, earthy Italian wine – both come together in our inaugural cuvée. Our team is loving the peppery notes and red fruits like raspberry and cranberry, along with the elegance and structure from our cabernet sauvignon. This would pair beautifully with a traditional Italian dinner, like Osso Buco. A velvety rich sauce over a cross-cut braised veal and tender veggies, plated next to a creamy risotto; It's the perfect cozy meal."
