2022 Zinfandel Barricia Vineyard

Barricia Vineyard Zinfandel Wine Notes

Wine Notes Print tech sheet

Our 2022 Barricia Vineyard Zinfandel marks our inaugural release from this historic Sonoma Valley site, where century-old vines have become one with the landscape, more reminiscent of an orchard than a modern vineyard. With roots tracing back to the 1840s when General Mariano Vallejo traded the land for piano lessons for his children, these gnarled vines tell a story of resilience and character that translates beautifully into the glass. Treating this thin-skinned variety with the delicate approach it deserves, we've crafted this wine in a more light-handed, Old World style that stands apart from the typical jammy California Zinfandels. The result is an elegant expression with remarkable balance between vibrant fruit and subtle pepper spice. This limited production is a true testament to Sonoma's viticultural heritage and represents a rare opportunity to experience the profound depth and distinctive personality that only century-old vines can produce.
